Gomez's big day not enough, Dragons blown out 11-5 by Green Sox
Despite a big day at the dish from Ramon Gomez, who finished 2-2, Dragons lost 11-5 to Green Sox at Peterson Field on Saturday.
Dustin Padgett kept the Green Sox off the base paths, recording four strikeouts. The Dragons' pitcher allowed four earned runs, four hits and four walks over five innings.
The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to seven lead changes in the game.
Green Sox took the lead in the sixth inning and held on for the victory.
Earnest Johnson pushed Green Sox ahead, in the sixth inning, and the lead lasted until the final out.
Brendon Olfoson racked up two RBIs on two hits for Green Sox. Brendon singled in the second and sixth innings.
The bottom of the first saw Dragons take an early lead, 1-0. Gomez got things going for Dragons with a single. Then scored Kenneth Gooch.
Two runs in the bottom of the seventh helped Dragons close its deficit to 11-5. A two-run home run by Jeremy Hubbard set off a Dragons rally. The game went final during Ken Cordoba's at bat when Gomez was caught stealing.
